If you choose to adopt the processes of EOS, it will take a lot of time and effort to transform your business. But, to give you a sneak peek into what it has the potential to bring to the table, we’d like to share one of the most powerful EOS tools, the Accountability Chart. Rene Boer, a master EOS implementor, recently presented EOS tools and processes to the EFBC community and this was one of our favorite tips.

The Accountability Chart helps you analyze your people and put the right people in the right seats. Rene says that it is important to have someone in a Sales/Marketing seat, an Operations seat and a Finance seat. You can have one person in more than one seat, but you can’t have multiple people in one seat. Why? Because your team member needs to be accountable for their role.

This chart helps you visually lay out who is where in the company and what they are responsible for. You may find that you have the wrong people in the right seat, or the right person in the wrong seat. This is important information to discover so that you can make the necessary change to streamline your business.

Once you have the first three seats filled, determine who is your integrator and who is your visionary. Your integrator gets things done from a logical, process standpoint. Your visionary has the big ideas, nurtures the relationships and is focused more on emotion than logic.

Accountability Chart

When your Accountability Chart is complete, you can determine if your team members are in the right seats. In order to be in the right seat, the person has to get it, want it and have the capacity to do it.

Here's what that looks like:

Get It

  • Does he or she understand the ins and outs of the position?
  • Does he or she understand their responsibilities and how to accomplish them?

Want It

  • Does he or she genuinely want to do the job?
  • Is he or she motivated on their own to get up in the morning and come to work?

Capacity

  • Does he or she have the mental, physical, spiritual, knowledge and emotional capacity to do the job?

With this tool you'll begin to see how EOS can bring traction to your business. Good luck!
