I met Jonathan Michael of Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. in 2014 when he opened a Lighthouse Forum meeting with a talk about estate planning and ownership transition.

At the time of the meeting I had day-to-day responsibility of a privately-held business without any ownership. I presented some questions to Jonathan about how to negotiate for stock and he helped explain why ownership might strongly prefer not to dilute their stock percentage. He went on to suggest different options that would satisfy my desire for financial security without the stockholder having to give up any ownership. That solution-based outlook really impressed me.

In 2015 ownership decided to sell the business. I contacted Jonathan and he was there for me.

Jonathan reviewed my employment contact with the current employer, helped me understand each of the coming steps in the sale process and made sure that my position as investor in the new company met my needs. Jonathan also negotiated the terms of my new employment contract.

At the end of the process, I had the ownership position that I always wanted.

This was a very unsettling time for me and Jonathan kept me focused on the matters relevant to my position. There were issues that arose where Jonathan utilized expertise from other attorneys within the firm. I was confident that Jonathan Michael was the right person and Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella was the right firm to have on my side!
